Mexico AGM

On April 1st, Democrats Abroad Mexico will be holding elections to elect new officers.   These are positions of leadership, and can help determine the priorities of Democrats Abroad, the issues and platform ideas that get support and help determine party rules.

Certain positions also have Democratic Party Committee Abroad (DPCA) voting rights, and will be able to vote for new international officers.

We need progressives to vote and to run for every position so we can transform Democrats Abroad to truly represent the membership.

Nominations deadline: March 15th 2017 at midnight PST

Officer Descriptions

Country Chair: The Country Chair shall be the legal representative of DA Mexico and the Chief Executive Officer of the organization, and shall preside at all General Meetings and all meetings of the Board. The Country Chair provides leadership and direction for the day-to-day activities of DA Mexico and for execution of all activities approved and undertaken by the Executive Committee. The Country Chair may appoint such ad hoc committees as necessary for the execution of the activities of DA Mexico. The Country Chair shall be a voting member of all Chapters, Standing Committees and ad hoc committees. The Country Chair shall be a member and attend meetings of Democrats Abroad Americas Region.

Vice Chair: In the absence of the Country Chair, the Vice Chair shall call and preside at meetings of members and of the Executive Committee. The Vice Chair shall have such other duties as chairing one or more committees, depending on the Vice Chair’s experience and preferences. The Vice Chair shall work with the Chair to ensure all responsibilities approved by and on behalf of the organization are supervised and executed appropriately. The Vice Chair provides leadership and direction to the Board and Chapter Chairs in support of the Country Chair. The Vice Chair shall be a member who is of the opposite gender to the Chair, as per the by-laws of Democrats Abroad and the rules of the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

Secretary: The Secretary shall maintain a current list of members of Democrats Abroad Mexico, minutes of all meetings, and all files and administrative records of the organization. All such records shall be open for inspection by members. Minutes of all meetings shall be sent to the Executive Committee once approved by the Country Chair and/or Vice Chair.

Treasurer: The Treasurer shall manage the finances of the organization, maintain its financial reports  and make and maintain such financial reports as may be required by law (including without limitation the laws and regulations of the United States and the several States applicable to political parties and contributions to them). All such records shall be open for inspection by members.

Counsel: The Counsel shall be available for consultation by the Board or its Officers on legal and procedural questions relating to Democrats Abroad Mexico and its activities.

Voting Representative (DPCA Voting Representative):  The DPCA Voting Representatives shall represent the views of DA Mexico at the international meetings of the DPCA and vote accordingly at the meetings. Voting representatives must attend the Annual Global Meeting of DPCA either in person or via web-ex.

Members at Large:  Members at Large represent the broader membership and bring to the organization experience and talents, which complement those of the other elected officials on Executive Committee
